About Rajarata Food

In the year 1953, our magical journey commenced with our decision of opening up our very first dispensary. Since the very start, our proprietary service offering was our hometown made Ayurvedic medicine. Our manufacturing plant was based in Eheliyagoda (Sabaragamuwa province).

Since the dawn of mankind, and throughout ancient history, man has sought to heal themselves through herbs. Ayurvedic treatment had immense value back in the day and herbs were much more readily available during those times. However, as society progressed and people began to stray towards traditional forms of healing, Rajarata Foods dedicated themselves towards capturing a target market that was in dire need of quality ayurvedic products!

Thus, keeping in mind that the road ahead was not going to be easy, Rajarata Foods embarked on a difficult journey of building a name for themselves despite their hurdles. Our mission was to ensure that our products were available all around the world and we’re very close to achieving that! We’ve been fortunate enough to gather loads of experience during our endeavors and thus our experience and dedication towards quality shines through in our products.

We started exporting in 2010 and our company grew immensely. With our commitment towards innovating constantly, we discovered a way to remove iron base particles from powdered spices. This helped improve our quality immensely!

We founded Rajarata Food Products (pvt) Ltd and for the first time globally, we discovered a method to produce cinnamon inside a conditioning room. Unlike traditional unhygienic methods, our cinnamon is manufactured with a 100% hygienic method.

Fast forward to today, Rajarata has been very fortunate to become the number one brand amongst both the Sri Lankans and the South Asian societies in South Korea. Similarly, the Rajarata Cinnamon is the number one choice amongst the Koreans as well. In the year 2016, we decided to purchase a land in the Horana area (30Km away from Colombo) and decided to build a factory there. In the year 2018, we made the move and migrated all operations there.

We currently have about 15,000 square feet, which is the 1st phase of the factory and is already built. We have another 10,000 square feet that is still under construction. In the year 2019, we formed a company in collaboration with one of my friends to sell our products in Australia. We’re still currently selling our products there, and have captivated a Sri Lankan audience of over 1 million people.

Brand Story

In the year 1953, our magical journey commenced with my father’s decision of opening up our very first dispensary. Since the very start, our proprietary service offering was our hometown made Ayurvedic medicine. Our manufacturing plant was based in Eheliyagoda (Sabaragamuwa province). My mother was a home science teacher and due to pressing financial constraints, ever since I was very young, I’ve seen my parents struggle to stay afloat.

I was extremely inspired by my father’s vision and upon graduation, I had a burning desire to start a business venture that I could call my own. I first ventured into the gem industry, since I was very fascinated by expensive stones. My personal hobby was to become an actor in the industry and I used to practice every day in the hopes that I might get my chance to shine.

However, after my parents passed away, all those dreams fell through. I truly felt that my life had one main purpose, and that was to carry my parent’s legacy worldwide. Being a methodical thinker in my approach, I decided to strategize on a plan of action to help me achieve my goal. My first decision was to start a food business. Whilst operating this business, I came across numerous weak points and dedicated my efforts towards finding a solution that would resolve them immediately. I proceeded towards starting a food manufacturing company in the year 2010. Dilshara International (pvt) ltd was formed as an LLC and I poured my heart and sole into making it work.

One of my first steps was to rent a factory in the suburbs in Colombo and started manufacturing products that were ‘ready to eat’ and exquisite spices that people loved! The response was overwhelming as I had capitalized on a market very few knew existed. To cope up with the rising demand, I stuck to my vision of creating an excellent quality product. I hired a very well-reputed experienced production manager in order to oversee our production and raise our standards to heights that no one has ever achieved.

Inspired by my success locally, I decided to participate in a South Korean food exhibition. It was just me with samples in my hand and I was very fortunate enough to secure my first international order! We started exporting in 2010 and our company grew immensely. With my commitment towards innovating constantly, I discovered a way to remove iron base particles from powdered spices. This helped improve our quality immensely!

The company consistently manufactured products within the Korean standards for the South Korean market. My primary aim during this rapid growth phase was to manufacture innovative products and to introduce them to the market. In the midst of all this amazing chaos, I founded another company named Rajarata Food Products (pvt) Ltd. For the first time globally, I discovered a method to produce cinnamon inside a conditioning room.

In the year 2016, I decided to purchase a land in the Horana area (30Km away from Colombo) and decided to build a factory there. In the year 2018, we made the move and migrated all operations there. We currently have about 15,000 square feet, which is the 1 st phase of the factory and is already built. We have another 10,000 square feet that is still under construction. In the year 2019, I formed a company in collaboration with one of my friends to sell our products in Australia. We’re still currently selling our products there, and have captivated a Sri Lankan audience of over 1 million people. The unwavering entrepreneurial passion with me now wanted to sell our products in Canada to leverage the immense population of South Asians who live there. Our products are bound to be a hit not only amongst South Asians, but all communities out there. I’m currently planning on starting this with one of my best friends who resides in Canada and her husband is a professional chef.

As our brand story continues, we are still exporting and importing products amongst these countries serving millions of people with amazing quality products!
